Bug Out Bags

Best Budget Bag TETON Sports Scout 3400 (click here to check it out on Amazon)

There are a lot of options to choose from when you are looking for a good bug out bag. There are a few things that I look for when I’m choosing a bag. One thing is the size, I’ve found that with my load-out I need a pack that is about 55L and has some external attachment points. I also prefer an internal frame pack which is common these days. Another thing is that it is compatible with a hydration bladder. When choosing a pack there are really two ways to go, high quality or budget.

For top quality, I recommend the 5.11 Tactical RUSH72 (click here to check it out on Amazon)

The 5.11 Tactical RUSH72 is a bag full of great features made with quality construction and materials. The list of features speaks for its self.

  • Water-repellant 1050D Nylon
  • Self-Healing YKK Zippers
  • Dual Density Closed-cell Foam Shoulder Straps
  • Hydration Compartment with Hanger
  • Sturdy Grab and Go Handle

For my budget option, I recommend the TETON Sports Scout 3400 (click here to check it out on Amazon)

Now when you hear budget don’t think low quality, you need to think, it will get the job done. A bug out bag needs to support 30 to 50 pounds of food, water, and gear and be able to hold up for the duration of your bug out. The Scout 3400 will do just that.

EDC Bags

My current EDC bag is actually an Adidas Rydell Sling Bag which has been a favorite of mine for many years now, unfortunately, this bag is no longer available.

Sling Bag: Elite Survival Systems Smokescreen (click here to check it out on Amazon)

Backpack: CamelBak H.A.W.G. NV (click here to check it out on Amazon)

There are two different types of EDC bags that I use, the standard type backpack and a sling bag. They both have there time and place I have used both though out the years.

Sling Bag

The Elite Survival Systems Smokescreen has many nice features. Made from 420D nylon this pack is lightweight and durable and discreet as well.

Main Features
  • Ambidextrous Shoulder Strap
  • CCW Concealment Pocket
  • Large Grab Handle

The Smokescreen also features an ambidextrous shoulder strap making it so you can carry it on either shoulder depending on your preferences and a large grab and go handle for when you’re in a hurry.

If you CCW “off-body” this pack is for you. It has a concealment pocket that is accessible from either side and will fit most carry guns.

Backpack

The CamelBak H.A.W.G. NV Hydration Pack is one of my favorite backpacks for running, biking or anytime your moving about and it’s hot. The ventilation design is great at keeping the air moving around your back.

Main Features
  • 3L Hydration Bladder
  • Integrated Rain-fly
  • Vented Back Panel
